Cleansing your Minerals

Cleansing crystals is an important part of crystal care. It's important to cleanse your crystals regularly to keep them at their highest vibration. Avoid sunlight or moonlight as they do not help with cleansing crystals, but rather they can weaken the energy of the crystal. Instead, use sand, plants and sea salt to cleanse your crystals. Place the crystal in the sand or salt, or bury it in the soil of a houseplant, for around 24 hours. After cleansing, be sure to thank your crystal and set an intention for it.

Types of Cleansing tools:

Sea Salt

Sea salt is the most traditional purifying agent in psychic work and healing. It dispels any sort of unease and negativity and is a physical and psychic disinfectant. I feel it is the most accepted and probably the most powerful method of clearing crystals and stones. I highly recommend it for the initial cleansing of a new healing stone and for any time a stone is overloaded with negative energy.

Sand

Plants

Brown Rice

This method can also be used to draw out negativity in a safe and contained setting. It’s especially beneficial for protective stones, such as black tourmaline.

To do this, fill a bowl with dry brown rice and bury your stone beneath the grains. Dispose of the rice immediately after the cleansing, as the rice is said to have absorbed the energy you’re trying to eradicate.

Sound healing

this allows a single pitch or tone to wash over an area, bringing it into the same vibration as the tone.

This can be accomplished using chanting, singing bowls, a tuning fork, or even a nice bell. It doesn’t matter what key the sound is, so long as the sound emitted is loud enough for the vibration to fully encompass the stone.

This method is ideal for collectors who have a large volume of crystals not easily inventoried or moved around.

Using smaller stones

Carnelian, Clear Quartz,  Calcite (any color), Selenite, and Hematite are also said to have an overall clearing effect.

Because these stones are typically smaller, you may need to have more than one on hand to successfully clear other stones.

Place the clearing stones into a small bowl, and set the stone you want to restore on top

Use your better judgement
