About the event

Introduction to the types of breath work presented.

Types of Breathwork

1. Yogic Breathwork

Yogic breathing is a safe and natural way to quickly affect your autonomic nervous system. Most of us are stuck on autopilot, and we're getting bounced around by our environment leaving us feeling wired but tired, imbalanced, and frazzled. Yogic breathing offers many of the same benefits as meditation, but it's easier to learn, can be practiced anywhere, and the results are very predictable.

These pranayama techniques will help you find greater lung capacity, better focus, and self-awareness through Fire, Water, and Earth Breathing. These will translate into better physical and mental health and a stronger immune system.

The benefits of yogic breathing include:

● Relieve stress

● Reduce anxiety

● Improve mental focus

● Boost digestion

● Improve sleep

● Balance your energy

● Reduce Pain

2. Somatic (Circle) Breathing

Circle breathing entails a mindful way of breathing that fosters a continuous flow of breath within our bodies. Through this breathing technique, we will gently unlock channels of movement to alleviate discomfort. It's important to note the contrasting nature of pain and flow – they exist as opposites. By cultivating a state of flow through

our breath, we work towards diminishing the presence of pain in our bodies.

The benefits of circle breathing include:

● Reduces Stress and Anxiety

● Reduce Pain

● Emotional Regulation

● Enhance Mind-Body Connection

● Relaxation and Sleep Improvement

● Improve Mental Focus

● Increase Energy and Vitality

3. Conscious Connected Breathwork

Conscious connected breathing is a breathing technique in which the pause intentionally connects the inhale with the exhale without any pauses. By learning to breathe consciously, you will uncover and release limiting beliefs and thought patterns to create a more pleasurable and authentic life.

The benefits of Conscious Connected Breathing include:

● Release Stress, Trauma, and Emotional Blocks

● Calming the Nervous System

● Strengthening the Immune System

● Improving the respiratory system

● Gaining Clarity

● Increasing energy level

FAQ

About Me:

My name is Laura Haraka and I am a proud mother of two daughters. I have a masters in Educational Administration from Kean University and have completed my Somatic Experiencing Practitioner Certification. I have also completed Dr. Schubiner’s Freedom from Chronic Pain Practitioner Training Course and undergone the Mindful Schools courses: Mindful Fundamentals and Mindful Educator Essentials. I am a Certified Breathwork Facilitator and Yogic Breath Coach.

After teaching high school math, I became a stay-at-home mom for 18 years. In 2015, my life was turned upside down when I was suddenly stricken with a chronic pain condition. After three years of searching for a medical diagnosis with no avail, I discovered the world of mind-body medicine, somatic experiencing, and breathwork which led me to heal beyond my wildest dreams. Because of my own personal healing journey success and my professional background in teaching, I have made it my mission to teach others how to become their own healer. I now see private clients with chronic pain conditions and offer them tools to eliminate chronic symptoms utilizing their own innate healing capabilities.
